Blue-Spotted Salamander: Ambystoma laterale

Distribution: Southeastern Manitoba, through Southern Ontario, Quebec and Labrador as well as all the maritime provinces except Newfoundland Island.

Size: Up to 5" in adults.

Distinguishing Characteristics: Bluish-black with varying degrees of lighter blue flecks.

Habitat: Swamps, marshes and forested areas.

Diet: Insects, arachnids and other invertebrates such as worms.
