Canadian Toad: Anaxyrus hemiophrys, formerly Bufo hemiophrys

Distribution: Eastern Alberta to Western Manitoba + North-Central USA

Size: 5.5"-7.5" adult average

Distinguishing Characteristics: Cranial crests merge to form a central boss between its eyes. Parotoid glands are large and have an oval shape to them and meet with the cranial crests.

Canadian Toads have a light coloured dorsal stripe running down the center of their back with reddish-brown warts surrounded by dark-brown to black spots.

Habitat: Standing pools of water including ponds and lakes as well as wooded areas.

Diet: Insects and worms.
