Distribution: Southeastern Manitoba, Southwestern and Southeastern Ontario, Southern Quebec and Southern New Brunswick. Cope's Gray Treefrog is limited to Southeastern Manitoba and one spot in Western Ontario. Size: Up to 2.5" in adults. Distinguishing Characteristics: Green, brown or grey skin with darker patches on the back. They possess large toe pads similar to other tree frogs and have a dark bordered ligher coloured patch under each eye. Visually and genetically, the Gray Treefrog is identical to the Cope's Gray Treefrog with the exception of its call and the fact that the Gray Treefrog has 4 copies of each chromosome instead of the standard 2 copies. Habitat: Trees and shrubs near lakes and other permanent bodies of water. Diet: Insects.
