Distribution: Southeastern Manitoba and all eastern provinces except PEI and Newfoundland Island. Size: Up to 2.75" in adults. Distinguishing Characteristics: Olive green or brownish in colour with dark mottling or spots. Dorsolateral ridges can be present but are not always. Often possesses a musky scent.. Habitat: Large, cold and slow moving bodies of water such as lakes, ponds and rivers, preferrably with copious amounts of vegetation. Diet: Insects.
