Spring Peeper: Pseudacris crucifer

Distribution: Manitoba around the Lake Winnipeg area east through the southern portions of Ontario and Quebec as well as in all the maritime provinces except Newfoundland.

Size: A little more than 1" in adults.

Distinguishing Characteristics: Grey or tan in colour with a darker X shape on the back. Enlarged toe pads typical of most tree frogs.

Habitat: Woodland pools or ponds.

Diet: Insects.
