Distribution: Southeastern Saskatchewan to Southwestern Manitoba, as well as Southern Ontario and Quebec, Novascotia, New Brunswick and PEI. Size: Up to 2 feet in adults. Distinguishing Characteristics: Bright green in colour as adults, blue-grey to dark green as neonates. The only Manitoba snake not reclassified from Colubridae to Natricidae due to the fact that it is egg-laying. Habitat: Found in a variety of habitats possessing moisture including woodlands, prairies and areas bordering bodies of water. Diet: Insects, arachnids and other invertebrates.
